About
The Redesign
After last years simple website, we decided that this year, since the fest was growing, so should the website. Using Pure CSS and XHTML, our webmaster, Maxim consulted many different people about creating useful CSS websites. With the permission of ZNG, Maxim started with a design similar to the Mozilla firebird website.
Redesigning the redesign
However, this site isn’t a site about web browsers, its about Linuxfest. Using the skills learned from the Firebird site, we rebuild the site using drop down CSS menus, available from the netscape DevEdge website. This new design allowed our schedules and exhibits to work much better in smaller screen sizes.
Compatibility
Linux, Windows Vista, Windows XP/2000, and OS X are cutting edge operating systems. Since over 95% of people use these operating systems, and “almost” 100% compliant web browsers, we decided to ditch the days of compatibility to older browsers. Out is Netscape 4 and IE 3, in is CSS compliant Mozilla and Netscape 7. We use cookies in our website to check and tell you if your web browser is not compliant with our website.
We are dedicated to supporting ANY standards-compliant web browser. If you’re using Internet Explorer 5, Opera 6, or Netscape 4.x, please either upgrade to Mozilla Firebird, Opera 7, or Internet Explorer 6 SP2.
